Concert with the Young Women

We had so much fun last night with our young women! We went to a benefit concert in Mesa to help a couple of families who had some recent tragedies. I love all of our girls a ton...they are such great, fun, and ADORABLE sweethearts!!! Not all of them could go, but it was still a blast!! This first pic is after the concert, and in the middle is the singer Mindy Gledhill....who by the way is really, really good!
Look at these cutie pies....love em'!!!

Big Smiles!! :>

We have been waiting sooo long for Braelyn to start smiling at us, and last night she did!!! It was a real smile, not just a gassy one!!! We took so many pics trying to catch her doing it, and this one is the only one that kinda shows it....still it doesn't do it justice! Our camra has too much of a delay. Here is our sweet girl getting all ready for our wards trunk or treat. We have a pumpkin costume for her that we put her in when we got there, but we forgot our camera!!! We had Ahlena, and a friend take a pic, so hopefully I'll get em soon and put them up...she looked so dang cute!

Cute onsie, huh? I've got a different one for the actual day of Halloween!

The Cutest Little Baby There Ever Was!

Oh my gosh...she is adorable...is that just cause she's mine? NO...she really is!!! :> Shes been moving alot more lately which is sooo fun! I can't wait for her to give me a big grin...she' right on the brink of it. She'll get this look on her face like she's amused, but just can't get the smile out. I know it'll happen any day now. The last couple of weeks her grip has gotten really strong too. Another thing we have noticed about her is that she definately likes to spread out...she wants nothing to do with being swaddled!!! She always has her arms moving, and she sleeps with them up by her head...so cute! Our favorite thing though is that she can really get her legs going. When she's laying out, she just gets one leg kicking like crazy...I'll have to video it to do it justice! She's also starting to do a little bit of cooing. She's very aware of her surroundings too. She can definately focus in our faces now which is so fun. She is in mad love with our blinds in our living room, and is always staring at them....I've tried to tell her it's rude to stare, but she just doesn't listen! She's loves looking at fans too, but her true love is with the blinds!! :> We are so lucky to have her in out lives...sometimes I still can't believe it. I always knew I was missing out on being a mom, and I am so glad that Heavenly Father has entrusted us with this choice little spirit...she is so special.

Love this pic...she looks like such a big girl!

So Sweet!!!
This was what she wore on Sunday...I love this dress (thanks Courtney Schloss) it is absolutely adorable

Braelyn had a blast at dinner as you can see!! :>
About the blow out the candles...all three of them (that's all I had!!)! By the way this is the best cake ever!!! It's a store bought, but you'd never know it! You get it at Frys, and it's called the Tuxedo truffle cake or something like that.....anyway, if you haven't had it TRY IT!!!

28th Birthday!

This day comes for everyone at somepoint during the year, and yesterday was mine....my birthday! Now that I'm in my "late twenties" (28 officially), birthdays don't seem nearly as fun as they used too. This one was still pretty good though. My parents are in town to see Braelyn for the first time, so it's fun that it falls in the same week as my b-day. Actually we are officially celebrating today, the 15th, because of a dear husbands flag football game fell on the actual day!! :> We all went to watch, and it was really fun....probably would have been more fun for Britton if they had won, :>, but that's okay!!!! Anyway since yesterday was the real birthday, I opened presents last night! Britton did well, as always!! My parents, and Brittons parents always give $, so shopping was done all day today......so fun! Tonight we are going to dinner, which I haven't decided where yet, and having cake...yum, yum!!!

Here's the happy family......I dyed my hair if it looks darker!! :>
Mama and Braelyn....OH MY GOSH she's soooooo darling!!! I love her!!

Family Visits

This is Brittons mom, Cindy, when she came to visit last week. It was so great to have her here and fun to see her meet Braelyn for the first time. Brittons parents were nice enough to get Braelyns crib bedding for us.... it's sooo cute!! I can't wait to get it on her crib (it's not here yet!!). This is my older sister (I know she looks younger), Gina! She came to spend a weekend with us the first weekend in October. She came all the way from Billings, Montana to meet her new niece. Good thing she found a good airline ticket.....too bad the airport was clear in Mesa!!! hahaha!!! Braelyn got quite spoiled by her aunt G, and got plenty of "echo kisses"!!!!

The first picture we got of Braelyn

Our Amazing Story!

I have finally decided to start doing a blog!! What might have encouraged me to do so, you may ask? As many of you may know, Britton and I have been trying to start our family for almost 5 years!!! We have done lots and lots of fertility treatments, including Invetro, but still have been unsuccessful. We had always thought adoption could be an option for us as well, but we wanted to try everything we could do physically first. So, we prayed about it, and started filling out the grueling adoption paperwork. I was really looking forward to getting it all finished, but also dreading it because then all we could do was wait until we were chosen. I wasn't sure how I was going to keep my mind off of everything while playing the waiting game. Then all of a sudden our world was turned upside down!!
One Saturday night I recieved a call from my boss, Micah Rolfe. He said that he had just recieved a call from a lady who had heard about us, from the salon a couple doors away. She said she has a 17 year old daughter, who is pregnant, and looking for a family. She would like you to email her your profile information. Then I'll never forget the words he said next, "hold on to your shorts though, she's due in 4 weeks!". That scared me little, but made me even more excited!! Now, at this time we didn't have our online profile up yet cause we were still waiting for legal stuff to pass. So, we just emailed her stuff about us and sent pictures. We talked a little back and forth, then Jessica, the birthmom, said she was going to meet another couple, but would also like to meet us. We were ecstatic ofcourse!! To make a long story shorter :], we didn't end up meeting here then. They met with the other couple and chose them. There were some circumstances with us that she wasn't 100% comfortable with. So, we tried our best to move on and look forward.
On August 30th I got a phone call from the caseworker that works with birthmoms. He said that he was working with Jessica, and that it hadn't worked out with the couple she had chosen. My heart started pounding a little harder. He said that she had been thinking and that she would like to meet us, if we were still interested. At this point I have to note that she was going to be induced in less than a week!! So, ofcourse we said yes, and we met Jessica, her parents, Brandon her boyfriend, and his dad that very night!!! We were nervous of course, but really tried to be ourselves. We were so pleased with how the visit went. We felt comfortable with them, and I think they felt the same. It was basically just lots of 'getting to know you' questions. Then a couple days later we went to dinner with Jessica and Brandon for some more talking and stuff. That also went really good. Now, all we had to do was wait to see if they thought we were a good fit with them. It wasn't until the night before she was going to be induced that we heard from them. I actually text messaged Jessica to see how she was feeling, and she replied that they had just emailed us. Thank goodness we were home alone cause I'm sure we were a funny sight to see running and scrambling up the stairs to the computer. There in my inbox was the most precious email I'm sure I'll ever recieve. The subject line read " Great news :)". From that line I'm sure you can guess what their decision was!! They chose us to be the parents of their little girl!!! I can't express how happy we were!!!
Our little girl was born on September 5, 2008 at 10:01 a.m. at Arrowhead hospital. She weighed 7lbs. 9oz, was 20.5 inches long, and was, ofcourse, absolutely beautiful!!! We named her Braelyn Hazel Black...so cute if I do say so myself!!! It has now been just over 4 weeks since we have had our little girl home, and we are loving it. She is such a good baby...we couldn't have asked for more!! At her last check up appointment she had gained a pound and grew a 1/2inch, and is very healthy. Luckily for us she isn't a very fussy baby, and really only cries (at least for now) when she's hungry. We just love her soooo much!! We are forever gratetful to Jessica, Brandon, and ofcourse of Heavenly Father for giving us our little angel.
We are just now finally getting some family coming to visit us. With it being so fast, it was kinda hard for them to drop everything and run out here. My sister, Gina came first just a couple weeks ago from Montana. It was sooo fun.....I totally thought she was going to steal Braelyn from us!!! Gina spoiled her tons....just they way an aunt should!!! Then my mother-in-law, Cindy, came down from Utah to see Braelyn. That was so much fun too!!! Braelyn will definately have lots of love, hugs and kisses!!! Last, but not least, my mom and dad are going to be driving here from Texas in a week....sooo exciting!!
